Rebel Wisdom: Join us for the Final Chapter
We're bringing the project to a close with a bang, films, events & courses
Hi everyone,
We have some big news: the Rebel Wisdom project is coming to its natural conclusion. We haven't come to this decision lightly, but it feels right for a number of reasons. Both of us have a sense that the editorial journey of Rebel Wisdom is nearing completion, and that we don't want to outstay our welcome.
We have big plans and would love you to join us in making them happen. The decision has freed up a lot of creative energy and we have some projects under way that we will launch before the end of the year, including some major film projects, some “best of” courses and online events, more Substack collaborations and most of all, a final big blow out gathering & party in London with some of our favourite guests from the last years.
Why?
The project has been a blast and incredibly meaningful for us, and many others. Our courses, events and films remain popular but we don't want to end up “servicing a business" for the sake of it when the creative daemon is pulling us both in different directions.
Since the beginning Rebel Wisdom has been about sensing into what is emerging in the zeitgeist, and right now our sense is the ‘rebel’, heterodox phase that we were tapping into, and was a necessary corrective, has now had its time. Instead of rebellion, the time has come for synthesis, and this is what will be informing our future projects.
We recorded a recent session where we explained our reasoning in detail with Rebel Wisdom members. It was a really warm, honest and enjoyable call, and we're sharing it with our Substack subscribers now.
If this brings up any questions or suggestions, we're also hosting an online event on Wednesday, 6 July to which you’re invited, to answer any questions and to hear any proposals or ideas that you might wish to share. Register here, and you can submit any questions or comments here.
The Final Phase
We aren’t wrapping up quite yet. We intend to go out with a bang and have some big plans for the summer and autumn, including multiple exciting filming projects, writing collaborations, new courses, and member-only sessions. All of this will culminate with one last big in person (and online) event in London, which is happening on Saturday, 5th of November.
The Last Campfire is a culmination of five years bringing together the most cutting-edge ideas, transformative practices and rebellious thinkers we could find. David Fuller and Alexander Beiner will synthesise some of the key ideas and perspectives we’ve explored on Rebel Wisdom, with talks by many of our favourite guests including Daniel Schmachtenberger and Ayishat Akanbi, and more big names being announced soon. It’s a chance to connect with others (online or in person), share perspectives, and let loose at the biggest afterparty we’ve ever hosted.

We want to make this last six months or so a culmination and pollination process, seeding the ideas we’ve explored and seeing what grows out of them. With that in mind, we are looking into using some of the profits from ‘The Last Campfire’ in November to sponsor interesting projects to further support the emerging field we've been part of. More on that over the next few months.
Watch the film to hear more about our reasons for wrapping up. There are multiple projects pulling us in different directions, for Alexander his upcoming book ‘The Bigger Picture’ and a focus on psychedelic mainstreaming, and for David a deepening commitment to changing the cultural/media conversation. In part our wrap-up is a recognition that the 'Rebel'/'heterodox' framing of the project, which was necessary and appropriate five years ago, needs to evolve.
As our friend Jonathan Pageau said in 2020, "If you want to build a civilization, you cannot do so on words like "dark", "rebel" and "heterodox". By using these identifiers you can criticize existing systems effectively, but you will never build anything of value and coherence."

We're excited about the projects we're called to do after Rebel Wisdom, and looking forward to bringing the best thinkers, teachers and facilitators we've worked with together for some documentaries, interviews, articles and courses over the summer and during the autumn.
We have multiple film projects coming before the wrap up of the project, including our documentary of John Vervaeke’s work, a big film series with Daniel Schmachtenberger, interviews with Ken Wilber, Diane Musho Hamilton and many more. We’ll continue to give you ‘behind the scenes’ updates on all these projects here on this newsletter.
If you are an annual subscriber here on Substack, don’t worry, we will refund you for any remaining credit in November.
The spirit of Rebel Wisdom will live on in projects we continue, and also potentially in projects that others create and spin off during this final phase.
Thank you to all the members, subscribers and supporters who have been part of this journey with us, and we look forward to seeing you again during this final phase of the project, either on one of the online meet-ups, courses or at The Last Campfire in London in November.
David & Alexander
I've been a sub of this channel from very early. I want to say less than 1k subs. I feel an initial sense of disappointment. I can't really put into words what this channel has meant to me. Rogan>Peterson>Rebel. That's my Mt Rushmore of how I began thinking about thought. Finding meaning and making sense of myself and the world around me. As I write the disappointment is still there but not in a bitter way. I will be eternally grateful to you both for opening my eyes to the depths of myself and the world I inhabit. Thank you.
Thank you David & Alexander. The work you do is tremendous. My immediate reaction was one of sadness, but then I felt, "Yes, this feels right."
And I look forward to the next phase. 🙏🙏🙏
